My name is Cosmo Rusch. I run the school here in the grove swamps of Merritt Island, Florida. My teacher is Grand Master Pai Sen Chuan (Fred Schmitz), He was honored with the responsibility of Head of the Fire Dragons by a distinguished board of Pai Lum Grandsons and Granddaughters. Among them were Pai Shin Zan- Grandmaster Thomas St. Charles, Bai Zue Long-Long Shr Shawn Dick, and many others holding responsible positions in the Families of Pai Lum. He is a direct grandson of the late Great Grandmaster Daniel K. Pai

I started training with Fred Schmitz in 1977.  I achieved my First Higher level rank in May 1981.  I achieved this in such a short time due to the fact that I moved in with my teacher shortly after starting.  From that time on we trained every moment that I was awake and some when I wasn't.  Through the years I continued to compete, practice and teach to this day.  I currently am a judge on the Chinese Championship Kung Fu Circuit promoted by Master Nick Scrima, where I promote Pai Lum to the best of my abilities.

On May 24, 2008 Grand Master Smitty crossed over and joined Great Grand Master Pai.  There they watch over those of us that make up the Families of Pai Lum.  Before he left he gave me the honor and trust as Head Instructor (with the rank that goes with it) 8th Higher Level,  to continue teaching his Way of Fire Dragon, Pai Lum Kung Fu.  He also said that the conflicts in the families needed to end and that Energies that wished to Exist - EXIST,  as long as there is Honor in that energy, and do all in my power to make this happen.  I swore to him that I would do this.  He is missed by all who knew him.

Our School is set up and run in the old style of teaching. We do not have AC, a roof, walls, carpet or mirrors. It is because the school is outside. The only thing that stops us from working out is lightning. To be a student at Space Coast Fire Dragon, takes complete dedication and no need for the comforts of society. Forms are taught for exercise and conditioning, fighting is taught for confidence and stamina, and self defense is taught to survive the real world encounter with the dark element of our great society.

Pai Lum has achieved a large amount of completely dedicated students throughout the country and the world. You can find highly qualified teachers, who are direct Grandchildren of Grandmaster Pai. They are located from Daytona to Orlando to the Carolina's to Pa. to Conn. to Canada and then westward.
